Get to know Sonja Wittmann

Welcome to our sanctuary in the heart of Costa Rica, where pure nature, sustainable building and survival adventure meet.

I am Sonja, born in Germany in 1963, a happy mother of two children and a loving grandmother. I am a naturopath and have worked in Germany independently in my practice for 30 years. I studied herbal medicine, Bach Flower Remedies, homeopathy, foot reflexology and dark field microscopy.

I am an outdoor enthusiast and survival teacher. My journey into survival began in 2017 with training as a wilderness educator with Dirk Schröder. Afterwards I trained with two masters, Jürgen Gerzabeck (earthlivingmastery.de) and Tom Brown jr. (trackerschool.com).

I was trained in building shelter, making fire, finding and purifying water, herbal medicine, outdoor first aid, deep awareness and many other ancient crafts.

I founded Finca Renacer because of it’s spectacular nature, year-round abundance of food and vibrant diversity of plants and animals. I look forward to sharing this unique place with like-minded people.

My life partner Rodolfo Saénz, a bamboo master, teaches natural building with bamboo and clay. He has built all furniture from bamboo which gives Finca Renacer it’s unique character. His many years of practical experience are reflected in his buildings and pieces of furniture. Each unique piece is a work of art.
